DESCRIPTION: A sea scape at low tide engraved by Armytage from a painting by Turner showing fishing boats arriving and unloading, fishermen cleaning and selling fish, and a guard-ship in the distance. Image 7 ยพ x 10 ยผย  On 11 x 14 sheet. The original is an oil painting on canvas 4โ€™ x 6 feet which was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1807.

TURNER: Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775-1851) is considered one of the best-loved English Romantic artists. His works include water colors, oils and engravings. He became known as โ€œthe painter of lightโ€, because of his use of brilliant colors as the main constituent in his landscapes and seascapes.

ARMYTAGE: James Charles Armytage (1802 or c.1820-1897) was an English engraver born in London. He produced over 200 plates, including steel engravings of landscapes, historical and military scenes as well as portraits of famous people of the Victorian era. He is known for his plates after Turner.

CONDITION: Very good.
