This is a view from the sea with three gondolas in the foreground and a city in the background. Murano is composed of seven islands, linked by bridges, separated by eight channels. Murano lies in the Venetian Lagoon northeast of Venice and is famous for its glass making. The gondola is a traditional, flat-bottomed Venetian rowing boat, well suited to the conditions of the Venetian lagoon.
